Med-PaLM 2 demonstrates that a PaLM 2 model fine-tuned on medical data achieves expert-level performance on US Medical Licensing Examination questions and demonstrates clinician-rated answer quality comparable to physicians. The work establishes LLMs as capable clinical reasoning partners and introduces a framework for evaluating medical AI safety and alignment.
